Solution Study: AUO G190ETN01.4 in CNC Machine Display Solution

I. The Operating Environment of CNC Machines

After visiting the customer’s production factory, the project manager told us that they should have consulted us for a suitable display panel right from the start, rather than choosing a standard industrial LCD screen just to cut short-term costs. The operating environment for a CNC machine tool control panel is far harsher than that of ordinary industrial equipment. Their core pain points focused on the following three areas:  

A. High Temperatures Inside Sealed Cabinets

To remain dustproof and waterproof, CNC machine control cabinets are usually tightly sealed. However, these cabinets house major heat sources such as servo drives and frequency inverters. During continuous 24-hour operations, the temperature inside the cabinet increases rapidly. Because standard industrial LCD panels have a narrow operating temperature range, they easily experience screen blacking under high temperatures.  

B. Heavy Oil Mist and Strong Light Reflection

During milling and turning processes, tiny airborne oil mists coat the screen surface. Combined with the bright overhead factory lighting, reflections become extremely severe when operators try to view parameters from a side angle, easily leading to operational mistakes.  

C. Short Backlight Lifespan and Difficult Software UI Adaptation

A previous supplier had suggested switching to a more common 16:9 widescreen format. However, this meant the customer would have to completely rewrite their legacy 5:4 CNC system software interface, which carried high R&D costs and time risks.  

II. LCD Display Solution: AUO G190ETN01.4

Based on the customer's requirements, we evaluated our available factory inventory, conducted tests, and compared the unit against other LCD panels with identical specifications. We found that AUO G190ETN01.4 was much better suited for the customer's project and could solve every single past pain point:

a. Ultra-Wide Operating Temperature Range (-30 ~ 85°C)

The temperature for most standard industrial screens on the market is only 60°C or 70°C. In contrast, G190ETN01.4 features a true wide-temperature design, with both its operating and storage temperatures reaching -30 to 85°C.  

b. 450 nits High Brightness + Matte Anti-Glare Surface

AUO G190ETN01.4 delivers a high brightness of 450 cd/m² and a high contrast ratio of 1000:1, providing sharp and well-layered visuals. It uses a matte surface treatment with a hard-coating protection (3H) to effectively scatter harsh workshop light. Paired with a wide viewing angle of 85/85/80/80°, machine tool operators can see everything clearly even when standing at a side angle to monitor the tool path.  

c. Native 5:4 Golden Aspect Ratio

AUO G190ETN01.4 uses a 5:4 screen ratio, which fits perfectly with the native user interfaces of mainstream CNC systems. The customer did not need to spend any time or effort modifying their software UI code. It displays perfectly right out of the box, drastically shortening the verification and testing period for the screen replacement.  

d. 50K-Hour Long-Life Backlight + Built-in LED Driver

Using a 4-string WLED design, the backlight lifespan exceeds 50,000 hours. It also includes an internal LED driver board that supports 5% to 100% PWM duty cycle brightness adjustment. The total power consumption is only 20W, which keeps heat generation low and ensures the brightness barely fades even over years of high-frequency machine operation.

e. Electrical Protection Against High-Frequency Interference

AUO G190ETN01.4 uses an LVDS (2 ch, 8-bit) 30-pin terminal interface with a driving voltage of 5.0V. To completely eliminate interference issues like screen flickering and water ripples, Hengxinda engineers paired the screen with our self-developed, high-anti-interference, industrial-grade driver board to ensure flawless signal transmission.  

f. Seamless Mechanical Matching

We provided comprehensive 3D structural drawings and helped their engineers fine-tune the waterproof rubber strip slots on the aluminum alloy front bezel. This ensured that AUO G190ETN01,4 fit perfectly into the machine's complex internal sheet metal layout, achieving IP65-rated dustproof and waterproof.  

g. Long Product Lifecycle
