Last month, I got a call from a customer. They were producing a portable outdoor sonic tester–the kind of device that engineers carry into the field to check geological structures, find pipe leaks, or inspect concrete quality. Their product was solid, but they were stuck on a problem: the LCD panel. Regular LCD panels are basically unusable in direct sunlight. At construction sites at high noon, in open terrain, or at exposed testing grounds, engineers are forced to press their faces right up against the screen—shielding it with their hands—to make out the waveform data barely.
So they asked us: Is there an LCD panel that's as bright as a phone, as tough as industrial equipment, and doesn't consume power?
After a few rounds of discussion, I helped translate their requirements into easy language that anyone can understand:

To be honest, if applied to consumer-grade products, these requirements are easy to meet. However, when it comes to industrial outdoor equipment, LCD panels that simultaneously satisfy all three criteria are truly difficult.
Based on the customer's needs, we recommended AUO G101EVN03.1 industrial TFT LCD display. This 10.1-inch outdoor sunlight readable LCD display meets every need on their list.
AUO G101EVN03.1 has 1000 cd/m² of brightness. You might not know what that number means, so let me put it another way–a typical laptop screen is around 250-300 nits. Most industrial LCD displays are 400-500 nits. So what does 1000 nits feel like? You don't need to cup your hand over the screen. The waveforms, the numbers, the curves–all of it, perfectly clear.
Operating temperature ranges from -20°C to 70°C. The customer ran a cold test: they left the device overnight in a -10°C environment. The next morning, they powered it on. The LCD panel lit up like nothing happened.
AUO G101EVN03.1 uses WLED backlight technology with excellent power management: only 0.63W. LED backlight life exceeds 50,000 hours, which means lower long-term maintenance costs for the customer.
The industrial LCD display uses a standard LVDS interface (1 channel, 6/8-bit) with a 40-pin connector and 3.3V driving voltage. It paired perfectly with the customer's existing motherboard–no extra adapters.
I don't usually speak for my customers, but the project manager said a few things this time that I think are worth sharing:
"Honestly, we chose G101EVN03.1 for the 1000 nits brightness. But after using it, we realized the wide temperature range and low power consumption gave us even more value than we expected. To be honest, in this industrial TFT LCD display area, most of customers come to you not because your product is better.
